Ainakin minun mielessäni Ceylonille tuntuu jotenkin osuneen teemaailman rivisotilaan rooli. Toisin kuin intialaiset ja kiinalaiset serkkunsa, jotka erottuvat makunsa täyteläisyydellä tai hienostuneisuudella (tai parhaimmissa tapauksissa molemmilla), niin Ceylon-teen ensimmäisenä mieleen tuleva ominaisuus on jonkinlainen tavallisuus. En tarkoita, että Ceylon olisi huonoa, mutta siitä on vaikea innostua. Ennakkoluulojaan on hyvä tarkistaa silloin tällöin ja tässä on tee, joka on saanut minut muuttamaan käsityksiäni. Jing Tean vaatimattomasti nimeämä Ceylon Black Tea on itse asiassa Single Estate ja todella erinomainen tee, josta on erittäin helppo innostua. Lehdet ovat tummia ja kierrettyjä. Juomasta tulee punaruskeaa ja siinä on hieno makea, hunajainen tuoksu. Maku on pehmeä ja täyteläinen, mutta kumminkin samalla kevyt. Jälkimaku on pitkä, lämmin ja viipyilevä. Tämä on erittäin virkistävä tee, joka suorastaan huokuu laatua. Toisin kuin Jing, pidin tästä enemmän maidon kanssa (yleensäkin maidon ja sokerin/hunajan lisääminen on mielestäni täysin makukysymys, jossa kannattaa noudattaa vain omia mieltymyksiään). Vaikka yleensä juon mustan teen aina makeutettuna, tämä oli oikein mainiota ilman, jolloin teen oma luonnollinen makeus yhdistyi hienosti sen mukavaan kirpeyteen. Ceylon Black Tea on todellinen nautinto, jota voin suositella lämpimästi.

Teeblogi says: At least in my mind Ceylon seems to be some kind of foot soldier of the tea world. Unlike its Indian or Chinese cousins that attract attention with their full-bodied or delicate taste (or in best case both) the main thing I associate with Ceylon tea is some kind of ordinariness. I don’t mean they’re bad but it’s hard to get excited about a Ceylon. Well, stereotypes should be challenged and here is a tea that has done exactly that. The humbly named Ceylon Black Tea is actually a Single Estate and an exceptional tea that is very easy to get excited about. The leaves are dark and rolled. The liquid has reddish-brown colour and pleasant sweet aroma with some honey notes. The taste is soft and rich but light at the same time. There is a long, warm aftertaste that lingers in the mouth. This is a very refreshing drink that just radiates quality. Unlike Jing I liked this better with milk (I think the whole milk/sugar/honey thing is entirely down to individual taste and it should be the only guide to how to take your tea). On the other hand, although I normally drink black tea sweetened I really enjoyed this without – there is a natural sweetness here which plays beautifully with the slight astringency. Ceylon Black Tea is a real treat that I can recommend warmly.
